Before getting started with the MUSE Education Demo, please read through these instructions. If you have any problems, please contact Occam Research Customer Support at 617-923-3903.
GETTING STARTED
The MUSE education demo files are compacted so that they fit on one disk. To extract the files, you need 1.5 Mb available on your hard drive. To run the demo you will need at least 750K RAM in addition to that used by your system.
Double-click the icon named “MUSE Demo Installer” and select the destination (disk and folder) to which you want to extract the demo. Once the demo is extracted, you should see MUSE Education Demo on the destination disk you selected. To start the demo, double-click the demo icon and you’ll be on your way.
RUNNING THE DEMO
The MUSE Demo will run on a PowerBook monitor in black and white, or on a larger monitor in either color or black and white. If your monitor is larger than that of a PowerBook, you will see a black margin around much of the demo screen. Please don’t be alarmed—it’s supposed to be there.
To develop the demo, we had to run MUSE in black and white. There is full color support in MUSE.
By default, the demo runs at a predefined pace. However, we have provided keyboard commands that allow you to pause, slow down, and speed up the demo. Below are some hints on how to use these controls. If you would like to use the MediaTracks control panel, press H to display the controls. We chose not to display this panel since it prevents you from seeing a small portion of the demonstration on a PowerBook monitor.
• Press P on your keyboard to pause the demo. Press P again to resume playback.
• Press S to quit (stop) the demo.
• Press Up Arrow to run the demo faster.
• Press Down Arrow to run the demo slower.
• Press the Left and Right arrows to skip backward and forward through the demo.
SHARING THE DEMO FILES
Please feel free to share this demo and MUSE Education DataBook with others. If you do, please include this document and TeachText so that others will know how to install and run the demo. Any suggestions you have concerning the demo are greatly appreciated.
MUSE EDUCATION DATABOOK
In addition to the MUSE Education Demo, we have included on this disk a copy of the MUSE Education DataBook that we used to build the Demo. If you do not already own a copy of MUSE, this DataBook will be of no value to you; you may simply delete it from your hard disk after you have extracted it. If you do own a copy of MUSE, you may like to open this DataBook and work with it to find other interesting trends in education.
